During our May 2007 membership meeting, we became acquainted with Linda Moore, representing the Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue organization. This wonderful Oklahoma organization has been a shining light to King Charles Cavalier Spaniels since incorporation. Linda and her fellow volunteers spend innumerable hours rescuing Cavaliers from auctions and other sales situations. Then there is required care by veterinarians before the rescued waifs can be driven to their new homes. These hours, the wear and tear on vehicles, and expenses increase at an astounding rate!
Since organizing seven years ago, Lucky Star has rescued over seven hundred Cavaliers -- those sold at auctions, many who have been abandoned, and others sold by backyard breeders, puppy mills, flea markets, etc.
As Linda so aptly describes, the public's donations are used to get dogs out of a living hell. TCKC joins with her in urging everyone to support reputable rescue organizations such as Lucky Star.
